Being specific or not!

Hi Joe,
In a previous post you addressed the need to be generic(general) with desired outcomes.

Could this be a double edged sword? Is there the possibility that in being general, one may obtain the results through a negative or undesirable situation?
Example:
A person named X desires a car!
Person X gets a new car becuase is uncle(etc) passed away

While if one was being specific one could inlcude affirmations that would try as best as possible to include only favourable results. As you pointed out getting specific would narrow the ways in which the desired outcomes could happen.

One Response to “Being specific or not!”

    Hi Damian,
Thank you for that thoughtful question, which, as you note, has come up before.
For the record I have advised my readers not to be too specific about future goals. I recognize that this is opposite of what has been instructed by the majority of other authors as you and others have pointed out; however, there is a reason for this which I cover in substantial detail in all three books. In short, the natural flow of energy is that opposites attract (not similarities as many other books claim; which, incidentally, is an absurd notion to even a college freshman taking physics 101). In point fact, throughout nature opposites attract; this is pure Newtonian physics.
OK, so given that opposites attract, ones goals are most often fulfilled by fulfilling another’s goals which equally attract that person in a reciprocity manner. The notion of wanting, say, a million dollars, and attracting someone who is just itching to give away a million dollars are slim. However, the situation of wanting/dreaming about/imagining/etc. a desirable job that fits your unique talents and having a person of authority wishing to fill that position become attracted is, given enough time, inevitable. That is why the best chance of getting what you want is by broadcasting that desire in general terms as someone else will benefit by fulfilling your wishes.
In your earlier example, unless your uncle’s greatest wish was to die prematurely so that you could have a car, there is little danger that your wish would bring that about. Again the operative work is reciprocity. I hope this helps and makes sense. Again, I explain these reasons more thoroughly in the book as well as in my earlier answer to that reader.
Thank you again for that excellent question Damian as well as your previous comments.
